| This gallery shows
a few of the cagebirds kept for
their song and especially for
birdsong competitions. In the
west, particularly Europe, the
canary is the most well known
and in particular the Roller Canary.
Here the song is a quiet warbling
with emphasis in competition given
to repeating phrase patterns. |
In Asia, where birdsong
competitions are incredibly popular
canaries are almost never employed
to be replaced by birds such as
the Peaceful Dove in Indonesia
and the Hwamei in China. Again
song patterns are equally as important
but the volume of performance
also plays an important part.
