Unusual
Birds |
|
|
 |
|
| Very occasionally
a cage or aviary bird is bred
that appears very unusual. It
may be a mutation or deformity
that creates a point of interest
amongst birdkeepers. Such an occurrence
is the Gynander, more commonly
known as the 'halfsider’.
It is more likely to be seen in
birds that are sexually dimorphic
as each side of the bird takes
on the appearance of a different
sex. From experience, it seems
more likely that the female colouration
appears on the bird’s left-hand
side. |
